The clothes you wear in your dating photos do real work: they signal your lifestyle, your taste, and the kind of person you'll be on a date. Here's how to dress so your photos look like you — at your best.
Start with one rule: wear what's actually you
The goal isn't a costume. It's the version of your real wardrobe that fits, flatters, and feels like a great Saturday. If you'd never wear a suit, don't show up in one. Authenticity reads on camera; discomfort reads even louder.
Bring 2–3 outfits with different energy
Variety in your photos starts with variety in your outfits. A simple, reliable mix:
- One clean, well-fitting everyday look (a good t-shirt or shirt that fits your shoulders).
- One slightly dressed-up look — what you'd wear to a nice dinner or a date.
- One personality look tied to something you love: your sport, a jacket you live in, a creative outfit.
What works on camera
- Solid colours and simple textures — they keep the focus on your face.
- Clothes that fit well. Fit beats brand every time.
- Colours that suit your skin tone; earthy and rich tones photograph beautifully.
- One layer you can add or remove (jacket, overshirt) to instantly change a look.
What to avoid
- Busy logos, tight stripes, and loud patterns — they distract and can flicker on camera.
- Brand-new clothes you've never worn (you'll look stiff).
- Anything that doesn't fit "just for the photo" — it always shows.
- Sunglasses and hats in every shot — let people see your eyes.
The little things that matter
- Iron or steam everything the night before.
- Fresh haircut a few days ahead (not the same day).
- Bring a couple of accessories you genuinely wear — they add character.
- Get a good night's sleep and some water. It honestly shows.
Still unsure? That's exactly what our coaching covers — we help you choose outfits before the shoot, and on our top package we even build a personalised shopping list so you turn up camera-ready, head to toe.
